Insurance & Probate Valuations

Philip Serrell Auctioneers offer a full range of valuation services, both verbal (informal) and written (formal). All such valuations form a core part of our business and are usually conducted by Philip Serrell or an experienced member of staff. We provide a professional valuation service for private clients, solicitors and professional advisers.

Insurance Valuations

Written valuations for insurance purposes can vary from a single item to a large house contents. We will discuss the options available to you and match them with your requirements, to ensure our valuation is carefully tailored to meet your specific needs.

Many fine art and chattel insurers have reviewed their risk management strategies and now require an up-to-date valuation of house contents. It is advisable for clients with collections of valuable art, jewellery or antiques to have an itemised and bound valuation, to ensure the correct compensation is made in the unfortunate event of a claim. Such a valuation can limit the time spent negotiating with loss adjusters in the event of theft or damage of your property.

The market price of antiques and art moves more in line with market fashion than it does with inflation. Value can change dramatically over short periods of time with market forces and condition of items having a dramatic effect on price. A regularly reviewed valuation could help reduce insurance premiums and facilitate the speedy settlement of a claim.

Philip Serrell Auctioneers offer a bound document, with photographs if appropriate, prepared by an experienced, senior valuer. We have a broad range specialist knowledge available in order to ensure the highest level of accuracy and service.

Philip Serrell Auctioneers’ valuation service is completely confidential and has a clear and competitive fee structure.
